Fay's Gude to Fairy Folk {{:Water:}} Alven Appearance and Temperament: Their bodies are so light as to make them almost invisible. They have no wings but they can travel through the air by becoming encased in water bubbles. Occasionally they will show themselves while wearing the skins of otters. They are only harmful to those who chose to harm their home and sacred plants. Time Most Active: At night Lore: They are creatures of the moon under who’s light they dance and play. They are water fairies who live in ponds, lakes and rivers, but the river Elbe is sacred to them. They cherish night-blooming plants and will harm any human who attempts to pick or destroy them. Fish are their only known enemies, and they prefer to live in water enclosures where there are none. Where to Find Them: In water where no fish live. How to Contact: You must find them, mostly populated in Fay Lands, but also in water ways in the physical world as well. Ashrays Appearance and temperament: they look like males and females around the age of 20, but are truly very ancient. They have whitish translucent bodies making them look like ghosts. They have done both good and bad deeds against humans. Time Most Active: At night Lore: They can not live on land, and are thought to be the decedents of a race condemned to life eternal in the water. If they are touched by sunlight they will melt into a pool or rainbow colored water. Where to Find Them: Underwater How to Contact: Call to them while underwater. BeansidheAppearance and Temperament: She looks a lot like a ghostly woman with long stringy hair and ripped white dress. She is not fond of humans and dose not like them to approach her. Time Most Active: At night Lore: She has been known to wail just before someone dies. Her cry is bone chilling and cold. Where to find them: In the forests How to Contact: Not advisedBoobrieAppearance and Temperament: The look like birds that stand about a foot tall with black feathers and a long black beak. They usually fly in or over the water since they are unable to leave it and have claws that look like disfigured human hands. Time Most Active: at night Lore: They prey on ships transporting sheep or other animals and will mimic the sound of their young in order to lure them to the side of the ship where they will then attacked and drown. Where to Find Them: In the waterways How to Contact: Call to them and offer then a piece of meat.

{{:Earth:}} Attorcroppe Appearance and Temperament: They look like small serpents with arms and legs who walk upright. They are very malevolent. Time Most Active: At night Lore: They are poisonous like most poisonous snakes. Where to Find: In the forest near streams. How to Contact: May be impossible to contact outside Fay lands Ballybogs Appearance and Temperament: Small mud covered creatures. Their bodies are completely round with bulbous heads. They have long spindly legs and arms that look almost twig like. They are solitary fairies that can be helpful or baneful but are usually said t be stupid. They can not speak but grunt and slobber instead. Time Most Active: All year Lore: The Irish have reported seeing them in bogs for centuries. It is said they are the guardians or spirits of the bogs and will protect their home. They can be pests at times, Where to Find Them: At pea bogs or mud holes. How to Contact: Ask them to manifest in physical form. Bean-TigheAppearance and Temperament: They appear as old women dressed in old fashioned peasants clothing with kindly dimpled faces. They are friendly to humans and will adopt a house to watch over. Time Most Active: All year Lore: They adopt a house in which they will look after and help tidy up. They care for children, pets, and the hearth. Very friendly and are happy to finish up any household chores left unfinished by a tiered mother. They enjoy fresh strawberries and cream and a bit of this and that as payment for their work, but they never ask for much. These fairies mostly enjoy caring for children and in the night will go into their rooms, adjust windows, add or remove blankets, and tuck them in. Where to find them: In homes and by a hearth side. How to contact: Just call to them or invite them into your home.BoggartsAppearance and Temperament: A male dwarf with squat and distorted form. The Boggart will adopt a house much like the Brownie only rather then help keep the house clean they are known to make messes and break valuable things. They are very ill tempered and have also been known as Hobgoblins or the Boogey Man. Time Most Active: At night Lore: They like to feed off wood and are able to consume a home just like termites. They enjoy frightening travelers or people who visit their adopted home. They also love tormenting pets and the people who inhabit their adopted home. They especially like to torment children. Where to find Them: Unknown How to Contact: Not advised.BrowniesAppearance and Temperament: A small dwarf fairy that always appears as a male and perhaps the most benevolent fairy you would ever meet. They have coal black eyes and wear green, blue, or brown suites with small red caps made of felt. Their ears are slightly pointed and they have long nimble fingers. Time Most Active: At night all year long. Lore: They look for deserving humans and move into their homes helping with work and to protect the home from evil. They dislike cats and in fact fear them. Their favorite foods are milk and honey, ale, and cake. If you give them these food they will help stock your cupboards and firewood. They have also been known to be master cobblers and will work on a pair of shoes in the night repairing them. Where to Find Them: Inside homes. How to Contact: They come to you and can not be called.BuachaileenAppearance and Temperament: Small fairies who look like young boys. They were pointed red hats, which may really be inverted flowers. They are good shape-shifters with mischievous nature which borders on mean and they will torment animals for fun. Time Most Active: Summer Lore: They live in the pastures among herds of animals playing pranks on them and the people who keep watch over them. They are considered very dangerous to humans and seem to hate them very much. Time Most Active: All Year Lore: They are said to be a type of goblin. {{:Fire:}} Brown MenAppearance and Temperament: Short thin males who protect animal life. They have a sparse red thatch of copper-red hair on their heads, have long plump arms, and dress in the brown and withered foliage. They do not dislike humans, they just try to avoid them. Time Most Active: All year Lore: They are the cousins to the Brownies. Because they shy away from human contact little is known about them. Where to Find Them: On the moors. How to Contact: Call to them as a friend, or take to them an animal in need of their help.
