Weshire Lore and Rumors
McGovern's family has been a powerful family for centuries, few know how they became so rich. Many say it is because he is related to a count, but others claim he is related to the fairy king on his mothers side. As a bay he was often teased for being fatherless since his father had died when he was only six and many men of the town tried to wed the young widowed beauty who had the glamour of a queen. They say it is because the daughter of the fairy king fell madly in love with a mortal centuries ago and the two had a daughter that they had kept secret so the child would not be killed.
In time the fairy princess was forced to marry and pulled away from her mortal family. The child’s father continued to raise his daughter until his own death, but the daughter never grew old and never died. She in fact was an unchanging beauty capturing the hearts of many mortal men but then vanishing when they got to close to her, that was until her immortal heart fell for one man. Shanis McGovern.
The two were said to have gotten married and had a son, but six years time her husband was murdered. Some say by the Fairy King who found that this illegitimate half breed child was the heir to his kingdom and that her son more mortal then fairy would take her place. The young woman continued caring for her son until he became a man and had children of his own.
No one knows why, some say it is because the family history is all a lie, others say it is because her heart was broken but over the time the beautiful woman grew old and died. Her name was Fay, the queen of the fairies say some. Others say Fay, the enchantress of Weshire and the lost beauty.
They say that to this day fairies of all sorts live on the property and are old McGovern's only company for years ago he drew away from the town and refuses any human contact since the death of his young son. It was McGovern's family who owns Weshire and all the land, McGovern himself is a kind if not anti-social man but it had not always been this way. Once when he was married and happy and his son still lived he would walk the town greeting everyone each morning. Once he had been a kind and hansom man, but is now withered by age and saddened by the lose of all he loves. Many older residence say it if the Fairy King trying to kill his heir through sorrow, but that his grandmother protects him and all his property from any fairy who would wish him harm.
